Turkey with a 5-Point Flower Punch

Gobble, gobble...

Here's a turkey project that we made at a workshop last week. I used the 5-Point Flower Punch from SU, the 1 1/3 circle, the 3/4 circle and the Spring Flower Punch.

I punched 2 5-Point Flowers each of 3 different colors (Glorious Green, Real Red, Only Orange).

Stack the circles (Chocolate Chip) and adhere together for body and head. Cut the petals of the flowers apart and adhere to back of turkey in way you like. Cut tip of one of the orange pedals off to make the beak.

Use the Spring Flower punch to make two feet and one gobbler thingy.

If you are going to attach the turkey to a card, you can do so now. If you want to make a name plate or something else, you can put a large Chocolate Chip circle on the back to hide the messiness as well.

It sounds like a lot of work, but it really doesn't take long to put together, and they are so adorable!

This was shown to me by Nyla Kelley.

So I had my very first workshop this past weekend. My step-mother (biggest cheerleader, customer, and friend) hosted the party and it went really well. I used the card shown here that I learned to make at Regionals this past September. I was really happy with the turn out and it seemed to be a hit. It's a Pocket Card, so can be used for gift certificates, etc. I love the jumbo brads and stamping on the pattern paper.
We had 11 ladies show up and a very good time.
Here's to more fun in the future!
Here are the direction for making a pocket card.
Pocket Card

Card Stock:
Main color – 12” x 4” (Glorious Green shown here)
2nd Color – 3½” x 3½” (Real Red shown here)
3rd Color – 3½” x ½” (White shown here)
4th Color - Could use embellishment or paper here. I stamped an image on pattern paper and went that route.

Accessories:
Jumbo eyelet
Adhesive
Crop-A-Dile
Bone Folder
Paper Snips
Paper Cutter w/ scoring blade

Instructions:
1. Score Main card stock at 4” and 8”. Score diagonally from the top of the 4” score mark to the bottom of the 8” score mark. Fold card away from you on the diagonal score, and then fold up on the 8” score mark to create pocket. Adhere pocket together, leaving top open. Fold on 4” score mark to create 4” x 4” card.
2. With the scored piece of card stock, make sure that the middle, diagonal score mark is going from top left to bottom right. Fold the middle, diagonal fold backwards.
3. Fold the remaining two pieces to make a card.
4. Adhere the pocket to the back of the card, remember to not glue the pocket part, so you can slip something in it.

HAPPY MAIL DAY!

Going to the mailbox was such a treat today!

I got 3 DTP swap cards, my people magazine, and a card from a friend who sent me one of my own creations back. How cool is that? (I gave her a pail of cards as a gift for her birthday.)

The two Fall colored cards are from Sheryl and Trish. The pinwheel card is from Heidi and the friends card is the one I made.

No bills! Happy Mail to you all!

Brand New World

I've had an awful time getting motivated lately. I started this page for a challenge I was going to enter, but then didn't get it done in time. It just wasn't right. My friend Donna came over and gave me a few pointers and taught me the polished stone technique, so I made part of a border from that. The challenge was to use turqouise, teal, and cream. I have all these baby pictures for my little GIRL and had a rough time making it girlie, but Donna definitely helped. What do you all think?

I really need to get motivated on the card front too. I sit in the craft room at the table and just stare. I start to get an idea and then it disappears, or doesn't look right when I'm finished! Ugh!
I think I really need to say "No" occassionally, but it's really hard for me! Right now I'm deep into the March of Dimes Signature Chef auction and it's been keeping me busy at my real job and after hours. It's a wonderful cause and I really love doing it. I'm working on the programs currently. SU actually sent this HUGE box to donate as a prize and I put it all in a basket last night. It is OVERFLOWING! Once I get it looking pretty, I'll take a picture. They donated a full set of watercolor pencils and crayons. Thirteen stamp sets, all kinds of accessories, stamp ink, chalk, just loads of stuff. I've been asking anyone that wants to make a SU card to put in the basket to please send those to me. I'll provide the envelope. I've been including some of my DTP swaps, etc. That way there are samples in the basket as well. I'm hoping it won't go for much so I can purchase it!!! hahaha

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Blog Candy for a Cause - Please Support!

I found this on a blog I look at often and wanted to support her great cause as well. Please follow the link below to read about this WONDERFUL cause to support!

Blog Candy for a Cause - Please Support!
Calling all you Crafty stampers and Blog Candy seekers out there! I am putting together a shoebox (or more!) of RAK cards to send to a family in need of some prayers and uplifting. Friends, Michael & Alissa and son Isaiah, have twin baby girls (3 months old now) that have been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4S. The large cancerous tumor is in their abdomens. Both girls are undergoing chemotherapy treatments at Children’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Michael & Alissa have shown amazing faith and strength in dealing with this heartbreaking event in their lives. To encourage them and to let them know that there are people all over praying for them, I decided to put together Blog Candy for a Cause. Please follow the link for the full details of this as I would like to have all of the cards in the mail to me by October 15. I will wait till October 22 to draw for the blog candy to enusre that all cards have had a chance to get to me. Thanks for your prayers and help! This post is going to remain at the top of my blog until October 15, so look below for the latest post!

Non SU Cards

I made some cards last night for two friends going through polar experiences.

One is a brand new baby (13 pounds, 11 ounces!) and the other lost her father tragically on Monday night. Both are dear people to me and my heart goes out to them both.

While doing the cards, I figured out that I don't own any baby or sympathy stamps!!! There goes my wish list growing. =)

SO these aren't SU totally, but all card stock, ink, ribbon is of course.
